Critical Incident

The I’ll Have What She’s Having (IHWSH) Keep Well Critical Incident Response Program in partnership with Champion Counseling deploys trauma specialists to food and beverage establishments in the aftermath of distressing or disruptive events to execute a proven, structured program. Our mission is to protect the emotional well-being of hospitality workers by ensuring they feel heard, safe, and supported as their return to the work environment can be triggering.

IHWSH recognizes that the cost of professional crisis-response services often renders them inaccessible to small businesses who operate on small margins. Our program design is informed by research in 2024 and incidents that occurred in 2025, spurring requests for these services.

What is a critical incident?

A critical incident is any sudden, unexpected, or traumatic event that significantly affects the emotional, psychological, or physical safety of employees. These events can overwhelm normal coping abilities and disrupt daily operations.
Examples include:

• Acts of violence or threats

• Robbery, assault, or harassment

• Medical emergencies

• Overdose incidents involving co-workers, colleagues, or patrons

• Sudden death onsite or within the workplace community

• Severe accidents or injuries

• Traumatic customer interactions

• Any event that causes heightened distress, fear, or operational disruption

Early intervention by trained professionals helps reduce long-term emotional impact and supports a faster return to workplace stability.
